Easter in America
(info Sasha and Alec, pictures of Tyler and his family)

Easter is a worldwide holiday celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Easter takes place on a different day each year because it's always on the first Sunday after the full moon following the March equinox. That means it's in the spring, usually in April. In America , Easter Sunday is celebrated by Christians in many ways and it is a fun and joyful holiday.

Even though Easter is a religious holiday, in America many of the customs are not religious at all. Kids look forward to the Easter Bunny leaving a basket of candy at their door. Different candy, such as chocolate eggs and jelly beans are usually in the baskets. The Easter Egg Hunt and decorating Easter eggs is also a big part of the holiday. Even the White House has its own Easter Egg Hunt. Some cities, such as New York City , have Easter parades. Most families also go to church on Easter Sunday and celebrate with a big family dinner.

Easter Interview
By Haili Smith

Easter in the past was like you would wake up and have found your Easter basket that the Easter Bunny left. The Easter basket just had a chocolate egg and some candy. Then you would go on an Easter egg hunt to find hard boiled eggs that you could eat. My dada missed one egg one year and found it years later, it was very smelly!

Today, we wake up and find our baskets on the counter, that the Easter Bunny has left. The Easter baskets would have a chocolate bunny, jelly beans, toys or clothes in them. Then we go on an Easter egg hunt to find plastic eggs, not real ones anymore. The plastic eggs are filled with money and candy. Later in the day we go to my Grandparents for dinner and have another Easter egg hunt with all my 11 cousins!
