OUR TEAM GVC 04 REFLECTIONS
Posters by USA and Russia
I thought this project was a wonderful learning experience for my students. It was very interesting for them to learn about different cultures, customs, and traditions. They were also excited about being able to easily communicate with students that live so far away from them. I would definitely want to participate in other similar global collaboration projects in the future.
Mrs. Heather Kirk, Teacher Coordinator (
Edgewood Elementary School (USA)
GVC has broadened my horizon as I got a platform to interact with teachers across the globe . I also got an insight into the festivals and other holidays in U.S.A and Russia. While working I sharpened my IT skills . With each passing year the spirit of collaboration and working as a team has gone to higher levels.
Inderpreet Ahluwalia,
Teacher Coordinator
(St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Janakpuri, New Delhi, India)
To begin with, we made cordial and warm relations with Russia and USA which added friendly negotiations with them. We gained the knowledge of their culture and religion. While interacting online, we were made aware of the different festivals which were celebrated in their country. Our soft skills got sharpened making us more techno-savy. A lot of research work was done which was not only informative for other country but also enhanced our knowledge about the topic 'Festivals and Celebrations'.
Ritu Khurana, Teacher Coordinator (St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School , Janakpuri, New Delhi , India )
It was wonderful participating in this project with students from the USA and India. Not only did it open my students' eyes to new cultures, but it helped me to bond with other teachers around the world. It was difficult at times because of the lack of computer and Internet resources in our area, but my students and I were able to persevere and learn a lot through this process.

I loved working on our Holidays Around the World project. My favorite part was telling how I celebrate Eid, the interview, taking pictures, and making the 2014 calendar. The calendar was actually a lot of fun to make. I learned by myself how to make it. I also enjoyed coloring the Statue of Liberty on our poster of the globe. I am very thankful to be a part of this project!

I like the site very much. I contributed texts and drawings. Such project helps to improve English.
Nastya (Russia)
It was really interesting and cool to learn that people in other countries celebrate the same holidays I do, just on different dates and with different names. I never knew that before we started doing the project Holidays All Around the World. I've been having a lot of fun doing the project. I hope we can do this again sometime in the future !

I like GVC project very much. It was very interesting to read introductions from students in India and the USA, as if we met them personally. Drawing is my hobby and my favourite part was to draw for the project. I also enjoyed interviewing my teacher.
I like to read about the holidays that we don't have.
Veronica (Russia)
The thing that I liked about this project was that you could learn about Russia , India , and the U.S.A. ! When you open the website up you can see the holidays that the countries celebrate. There are so many facts, and it can even be used for school! The thing that is cool for us is that we can communicate with Russia and India ! That's what other people would think is cool! I hope you get facts and learn from this website!

Very interesting to read about holidays in other countries and especially see the photos and drawings.
Alexey and Sergey (Russia)
The Holidays Around the World project is cool because it tells you about all religions and holidays celebrated around the world. I've learned more about different holidays, so now I will know more about our world. I liked that instead of just facts about one place there are facts about India , Russia , and of the U.S.A.
By Madelyn Myer (USA)
I learned that people in different countries celebrate the same holiday (Eid) as me! I never knew that some people in India celebrate Eid. I really enjoyed learning these fascinating facts about holidays in different cultures.

I was a part of GVC team. The programme took a great place in all our hearts and the main thing is we got to know many things about U.S.A and Russia . By working regularly it enhanced my computer skills. I made presentations and birthday cards which gave me too much fun. I enjoyed a lot in this year and I wish I could take part in GVC again.
Parth Madaan (Student of St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School , Janakpuri, New Delhi , India )
It is amusing that in the USA children have many holidays that we have and in India they are more different. We had additional practice in English reading and writing about holidays. I love our site very much!
Dasha (Russia)
I am going to tell you about some of the fun and cool things I've learned in the program known as Edmodo. One of the cool things I've done in Edmodo was being able to see and talk to people all over the world. One thing I learned is that in all of our countries we have some of the same holidays and some different holidays. I also learned that even though some of the holidays have different names some of them mean the same thing. But some holidays are ones only other countries celebrate. It was cool to think that I was talking to people so far away from me! I love Edmodo!

I personally really like the concept of classrooms being able to make websites to let other people know about a specific subject and then being able to put that into a contest. But, especially for me (because I was away visiting somewhere when we were working on the project) it was a little hard. I think that the idea for Edmodo was amazing.
By Rohit (USA)
I like this website because it's great for kids and teachers to get to know each other. Also we get to work together and learn social skills. My last and favorite reason I like this is we get to do activities, use cool websites, and communicate with people in different countries. I wish I could do this every year.

When Mrs. Kirk asked me if I wanted to do this project I was ecstatic! She told us that we would be working with people in India and Russia , and it sounded cool. Mrs. Kirk also told us that we would be making a website. I was confused, but it turned out to be easy. Edmodo is my favorite project I have done in the 5th grade so far! So if you are looking at this website and have not participated in Edmodo please try it; you'll have fun.

Reading introductions, about holidays and writing improved our English skills. Now we know how to connect with students around the world and make friendship.
Vanya (Russia)
I really liked the project. I learned a lot about other country's holidays and celebrations. Everything about this project was really fun and exciting. If you haven't tried it yet, you really should!

Being a part of GVC team was really very interesting. During this time we made many birthday and festival cards, drawings and the powerpoint presentations too. Only because of GVC, I was able to communicate with the children in USA and Russia . As our topic was “Festivals and Celebrations” so we all knew much about it. I gained much by joining the GVC team. I am very happy that my teacher gave me the oppourtunity to do all this.
Dishita Gupta (Student of St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School , Janakpuri, New Delhi , India )
I really liked Edmodo because I got to interact with kids from other countries. It's really cool to be able to work on a project with kids so far away just as you would work on a project with kids in your very own classroom. I had so much fun getting to interact with kids just like me but in Russia and India .
By: Robyn Kerachsky (USA)
I really liked Edmodo because I got to interact with people out of this country like India and Russia . It's even cooler to make a project with them. I never knew how easy it was to make a website.

GVC was an extremely special and magnificient experience. We had to collabrate with students fromn USA abnd Russia . We were told to make presentations, documents by using our computer skills. Our topic this time was 'Festivals and Celebrations'. We clicked group photographs at various festivals. Out teacher alloted me the responsibility of making presentation on the topic “National Festivals of India”. I hope I will be selected for GVC next year too.
Aniket Goyal (Student of St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School , Janakpuri, New Delhi , India )
In this project I learned a lot about things in the world, but the best part was communicating with people out of my country. It was fun because I have never been out of the country and now I know what it feels like without even going to the country. It was also fun learning about their cultures.
By Sean McLoughlin (USA)
I liked when we had conversations with kids in other countries. I also liked learning about other countries' and religion's holidays. Out of all the things we did, I absolutely LOVED looking at our website for the first time.

I Aditya Goel took part in Global Virtual Classroom (GVC). It helped me to communicate with the students of other countries. It made us connected with students of Russia and USA . It was really great fun. I came to learn about many new software skills.
Aditya Goel (Student of St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School , Janakpuri, New Delhi , India )
I thought the holiday project was cool because we got to see the other kid's writing. What I also thought was cool was what they do in their country. Finally, I learned about holidays that I never knew existed.

When I heard the idea of this website, I was excited! I really thought it was cool to work with different countries. I had a great time working on this project.

I liked the Holidays Website project because we got to work with students from different countries. I liked this because we got to learn about each other, our countries, and our religions. These are my reasons why I liked the Holidays Website Project.

It was a great experience participating in this International programme. It was a great pleasure interacting with the students of other countries. We shared our views about our country through presentations and learnt a lot about making small videos using Animoto (Online Video Maker). I made new friends with the students of Russia . It was a great time I had in GVC.
MAYANK NARANG (Student of St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School , Janakpuri, New Delhi , India )
It was fun learning and researching about St. Patrick 's Day. One thing I learned about St. Patrick is that he was a man of god and praised Jesus Christ. It was a good experience sharing this information with you guys!!!
Brendan McCormack (USA)
It was fun to get pictures for New Years and researching things about Hanukkah. It was also fun to see what people in different places like. It was a spectacular time working with my friends.
Owen Jumper (USA)
This project was a great experience, and I enjoyed helping to make it. This project was enjoyable because we all took part to make a good website for a good cause. I really hope I can participate in this project again.
OHM'S REFLECTION (USA)
I Vani Banga a member of junior GVC team from my school SMS, Janakpuri, participated in the global project, which proved to be useful for me. Our topic “Festivals and Celebrations”. We were told to create a word file containing information on the various festivals of India . Also, I learnt to upload pictures and interact with students of different countries. I will be remembering my GVC members.
Vani Banga (Student of St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School
I enjoy the informational topic 'holidays' because they are a part of every one's culture and are unique. One example of a reason I appreciate holidays is because they have fun customs to go along with them. Another reason I am grateful for holidays is because they give the perfect environment to bond and appreciate family members. Those are some of my many reasons I appreciate holidays and was glad it was our topic.
Daniel (USA)
I like the topic holidays for many different reasons. One reason is that holidays are very different in many countries. Also, some countries' holidays don't even exist in other countries. For example, in India , there is a holiday called Holi but that holiday doesn't exist in America . That's one of the many reasons I liked that we picked holidays for our topic.
ALEC'S REFLECTION (USA)
It is very interesting to see how students look like in other countries.
Luba (Russia)
I thought it was really fun to learn about holidays in other countries. It was funny to see how they have similar holidays but called different things and different dates. My favorite part was seeing the finished website.

I felt that the Edmodo project was a very interesting experience. Talking with people in other countries is exciting. I learned a lot about the people in other countries. The holidays of America and our religious holidays were fascinating. I enjoyed this experience a lot.
