The Day of Spring and Labour in Russia

It is on 1st May. People have a day off, go to nature, fry shashlycks (a kind of barbeque). The holiday originated in early Soviet time, people did not go to work but cleaned everywhere in the streets.

In later Soviet times people went to parades with posters and balloons.
