PRESIDENT'S DAY

Why we celebrate President's Day:

- We celebrate President's Day to remind ourselves of our first president, George Washington, on his birthday.

- We also celebrate all of the other President's birthdays as well so we won't have to celebrate every single president's birthday; even though President's day isn't normally on his (or her) birthdays.

- The sixteenth president, Abraham Lincoln, was also a very important president to the United States because he ended most of the slavery that was happening at the time. Lincoln 's birthday also occurs around George Washington's birthday, so that makes President's Day more reasonable.

When we celebrate President's Day:

- We celebrate President's Day on the third Monday of every February

- People used to celebrate President's Day on George Washington's real birthday, February 22, but the date was changed to the third Monday of February so that people could have more long weekends.

They didn't go in depth about President's Day other than Washington and Lincoln.

Washington was our first president: he didn't tell a lie and he fought in Revolutionary War. That is all she remembers about Washington .

Lincoln : he was the president during the Civil War and he wanted to stop slavery. That he was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth ( April 15, 1865 ) was mad at Lincoln because Lincoln wanted to do away with Slavery and at first he just wanted to kidnap him and use the ransom money to give to the south he changed his mind because Lincoln game a speech that Booth didn't like.
