Field trips

At Edgewood we go on lots of fun field trips over the years. In second grade we went and saw a puppet show about oral hygiene. It was exciting! In 3 rd grade, we went to go see the Charlotte's Web show in Philadelphia! In 4 th grade we went on a field trip to see Independence Hall with our friends. That was my favorite field trip! This year, we went to see the Wayside School play. It was a good play! We are going to see the Phillies stadium this year! The Phillies are a major league baseball team! After we see the stadium, we are going to get to each at the Diamond Club which is a special area near the field. I can't wait!

Graduation

As part of our 5 th grade graduation, we have a clap-out. In our clap-out all the grades (but 5 th grade) are in the hallway and clap for the 5 th graders as they walk through the school. At the clap-out the parents come and clap for us outside!

We also have a party. At the party there is a slideshow with pictures from kindergarten through 5 th grade, so we can remember everything we experienced during elementary school.

We will also get a graduation ceremony. At the ceremony our names will be called, we will walk up to the stage, shake our teachers' hands, and they will give us a graduating certificate. We have so much fun being 5 th graders!!

Assemblies

We have so much fun at Edgewood by doing fundraisers, parties, movies, and even recess. But most of the fun we have is at our assemblies. We've met famous writers, athletes, and even musicians from Pennsbury High School. At assemblies, we got to Skype another school, watch plenty of movies, and play many games. We even had two professional football players come to our school for our Play 60 breakfast challenge. One of my favorite assemblies is watching the movies like Charlie Brown and the Polar Express. When they dim the lights and we sit back and relax, it gives us a chance to stop learning and calm down. We have an assembly where the 5 th graders get to play the teachers in basketball and the whole school watches and cheers us on. Assemblies are great and informational. But, we all know the best part of an assembly is missing learning while learning! I think assemblies are a great way to increase kids' knowledge calmly.
